Novenas for Depression

Depression can make even familiar prayer difficult. A short, honest prayer is enough to begin. Ask for trustworthy care and the support you need rather than demanding an immediate change of feeling. Completing a novena is not a deadline for recovery.

Prayer can accompany treatment and professional support; it is not a replacement for medical care. If someone is in immediate danger, seek emergency help. Recovery is not a test of faith.

Recommended novenas

Our Lady of Lourdes Novena

A loved one’s illness can leave you short of words. This novena gives you space to ask for healing, comfort, and faithful care. Continue medical treatment and seek qualified advice. An illness that persists is not evidence that the sick person prayed badly.

St. Dymphna Novena

Mental illness is not a spiritual defect. Prayer can support a life of faith while therapy, medication, community care, or urgent help remain necessary. If you are in immediate danger or might harm yourself, contact emergency services or a crisis service rather than waiting for a novena to end.
